Welcome to the home of the Hibernian Society of Baltimore!

The Hibernian Society of Baltimore was organized in 1803 and incorporated in 1818 to do all such…as shall be necessary, for the purpose of affording charitable assistance and advice to such emigrants from, or natives of Ireland arriving at, or residing in any part of the State of Maryland, as may be in want and deemed worthy.

One of Baltimore's oldest and most well respected non-profit organizations, the ancient order continues to assist those in need through the award of collegiate scholarships. In addition to providing monetary assistance to local students, our membership is comprised of true gentleman held in the highest regard.

The Hibernian Society of Baltimore meets regularly in fashion similar to its genesis over 200 years ago. Our lavish Annual Gala is held every March on or near St. Patrick's Day and regularly attracts prominent business executives and national, state and local political figures. We encourage outstanding gentlemen of Irish descent to learn more from society members through our mentoring program.

Inquiries should be directed to a member or submitted on our Contact Us page.

The Hibernian Society of Baltimore Seal
"The front figure represents the Genius of the Society, which stands ready to defend and relieve, with one hand stretched as if debarring that evil which may be impending. The other figure sitting in a mourning attitude represents the Genius of Hibernia in distress and the vessel on the distant sea represents emigration. Over the Genius of Hibernia is an eagle, holding an half developed scroll inscribed with these words, 'Enjoy this asylum, thy Sons have bled for it.'"
